We want to share another update on the future permanent Alma Powell Branch Library location and the work currently taking place behind the scenes.
At this time, Kalamazoo Public Library is conducting due diligence on two potential locations connected to the Douglass neighborhood and Northside Association for Community Development (NACD).
Discussions are also being scheduled between representatives of the NACD Board and the Kalamazoo Public Library Board as conversations continue around future possibilities connected to NACD property.
At the same time, our realtors continue to review other viable locations within the Northside neighborhood that align with the criteria and priorities established through the community committee process.
We remain committed to keeping the community informed as this process continues. Thank you for your patience, questions, and engagement as we move forward together.
Thank you, Kalamazoo Public Library
Community Celebration and Summer Reading
As summer approaches, we also want to invite the community to a few upcoming opportunities to gather, celebrate, and read together.
The POW Party (Tue, June 16 @ 4:00 pm–6:00 pm) returns in celebration of Juneteenth and the Northside community with music, food, face painting, and more.
Summer Reading Challenge
“Unearth a Story,” officially begins June 1. Kids, teens, and adults can participate by tracking their reading throughout the summer, earning prizes, and joining programs and events happening across all KPL locations.
