Alma Powell Building Project Update - October2026

Planning for the new Alma Powell Branch continues, with several developments in the process of selecting a permanent location.

KPL is continuing discussions with the Northside Association for Community Development (NACD) regarding approximately 2.5 acres of property on Cobb Avenue. At the same time, environmental and site assessments are moving forward for both potential locations to help determine which property will best meet the needs of the library and the Northside community.

During the October Building Committee meeting, members reviewed a project roadmap outlining the steps ahead, from completing site assessments and selecting a location to preparing for design and construction. KPL is also developing requests for proposals for architectural and project management services. This work can begin before a final site is selected, helping the project continue moving forward.

We will continue sharing updates with the community as more information becomes available.
